VanderMaten Honored as HRMC Exceptional Employee for December

Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its December Exceptional Employee of the Month, Jon VanderMaten, PA, with a reception on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.
VanderMaten, who has worked as physician assistant in HRMC’s emergency room for more than nine years, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Jon provides excellent patient care to all of our customers.
“He is patient and listens to all of the concerns a patient and their family have before providing compassionate care to help the patient feel better,” the nominaton continued. “Most of all, Jon is kind to his patients and coworkers and is a team player!”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As December exceptional employee, VanderMaten received a reception with friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
VanderMaten earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and completed the physician assistant program at the University of Iowa. VanderMaten lives in Pierre and has two grown sons. In his spare time he enjoys golfing.
