Wipf Honored with HRMC Auxiliary Volunteer of the Quarter Award
August 06, 2025

The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Auxiliary recently honored Lavonne Wipf as the Volunteer of the Quarter, according to Bob Eickhoff, HRMC Auxiliary President.
Wipf has been a steadfast member of the HRMC volunteer team since June of 2017, generously donating her time and talents each week to help create a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the doors, contributing over 1,300 hours and serving as secretary of the organization for several years.
At the presentation, which was attended by family, friends, fellow volunteers and hospital staff, Bob Eickhoff, president of the HRMC Auxiliary, thanked Wipf for her dedication over the years.
“Whether greeting patients with a warm smile at the Central Towers desk, offering directions, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, Lavonne’s consistent kindness and calm demeanor make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her,” said Eickhoff.
Wipf graduated from Huron High School in 1966. Her first job was at West Park Café. She also worked at Mahowald Our Own Hardware, Midcom and retired from Banner Engineering. Lavonne’s faith is very important to her. She attends Faith Alive Community Church and is involved in Faith Alive Women and Bible study. Wipf was surprised by the honor and stated, “I enjoy volunteering very much.” She continued, “I am blessed to have my family and friends their give up their time to be with me including my nephew Aaron, his wife Bri and daughter Daphne and my forever sister-in-law, Marla. Thank you to all who made my day special.”
HRMC Auxiliary volunteers provide refreshments and assistance in hospital lounges, assist visitors at the information desks and deliver floral arrangements and newspapers to patients. The Auxiliary provides scholarships for students pursuing careers in health care and contributes to various projects at the hospital with funds raised through gift shop/candy counter sales and membership dues. The purpose of the Auxiliary is to promote and advance the welfare of HRMC by rendering service to patients and assisting with charitable projects.
The group is always looking for more volunteers to substitute or fill a four-hour weekly shift. For more information on HRMC’s Auxiliary or to volunteer, call Bonnie Sheridan at 605-354-1233 or visit www.huronregional.org.
