Wonnenberg Joins HRMC Physicians Clinic Care Team

Leonard Wonnenberg, PA-C, joined the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) allied health staff and HRMC Physicians Clinic staff, effective Monday, July 1, according to Destiny Finn, VP-quality and risk management for HRMC.

staff at the HRMC Physicians Clinic. She continued, “He brings a wealth of experience and variety of talent to HRMC, with excitement for the orthopedic realm and a strong desire to provide the best care possible to every individual.”
Wonnenberg will provide same-day family care and orthopedic services in the clinic and will also assist Dr. Kevin Hofer, orthopedic surgeon, in the operating room, further expanding the capacity of local orthopedic surgery. HRMC orthopedics offers Mako robotic-arm assisted hip and knee replacements, which allow specially trained orthopedic surgeons to create a 3-D, virtual model of each patient’s unique joint, resulting in a precise and better-aligned joint replacement.
Wonnenberg earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of South Dakota and has previously served patients in the Huron community for over 12 years at Horizon Health.
“I’ve always wanted to gain more experience with the hospital, specifically surgery and orthopedics,“ said Leonard. ”I am really excited to be joining the team here at HRMC.”
A native of Winner, South Dakota, Wonnenberg and his wife, Amanda, who is a physical therapist assistant at HRMC Pro Rehab and three two children, live in Huron. In his spare time, he helps to coach and support the activities of his children and is involved in his church.
