HOSA - Health Occupation Students of America

HOSA, Health Occupation Students of America, has reestablished the Huron community chapter consisting of high school students from Huron High School and James Valley Christian High School.  The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.  HOSA allows students to grow their knowledge base in the many health care roles essential to support the ongoing shortage of workers at the local, state and national levels.

Chapter advisors are Rita Baszler-Lanners, RN, BSN, NCSN, School Nurse and CTE Educator, Teresa Haatvedt, RN, HRMC Healthcare Career Development Specialist and Rebekah Storm, DNP at HRMC Physicians Clinic, Huron.  Other local HOSA high school chapters include Iroquois and Wolsey-Wessington.

Local high school students interested in wide variety of health care fields are encouraged to reach out to Teresa Haatvedt, thaatvedt@huronregional.org or (605) 353-6589 or Rebekah Storm, rstorm@huronregional.org.
