HRMC Honors Oyler and Zwanziger with Annual Awards

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) president and CEO, Erick Larson, recently recognized Vincent Oyler, MD, family medicine physician, and Marcia Zwanziger, previous senior vice-president of finance, for their dedication and selfless approach to providing care to the community.
Zwanziger, who has provided financial leadership at HRMC since 1991, received the fourth annual Ubuntu award. “The Ubuntu award recognizes a leader in our organization who models our core values and recognizes their contribution is part of something bigger than just themselves,” explained Larson.
Ubuntu is a traditional African concept and comes from the Zulu and Xhola languages, which is close to Larson’s heart. Ubuntu translates to ‘I am because we are’ and ‘the essence of being human,’ speaking on human interconnectedness. “Marcia puts the Ubuntu concept into action. She has been the glue that binds, making it possible for HRMC to thrive, even in tumultuous times,” said Larson. “She has dedicated practically her entire professional career to care for and nurture HRMC with effort and attention unmatched by others.”
Zwanziger, who is transitioning to a consultative role with HRMC as she nears retirement, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to serve as CFO, “It has been my honor to work alongside so many in our wonderful organization and community.”
The Spirit of Caring Award was presented to Vincent Oyler, MD, family medicine physician. The annual award is given to recognize the valued clinical practitioners who demonstrate not only the values of HRMC, but also their impact in the community they serve and the influence they have on patients and coworkers.
Oyler, a family medicine physician, cares for patients at the HRMC Physicians Clinic and in the HRMC emergency department, as ER medical director. “Dr. Oyler has been consistent in his desire to help others since his arrival to our community,” said Larson. He strives to keep his patients at the forefront, makes himself available to colleagues and offers a hand when everyone else’s is full.”
Upon accepting the award, Dr. Oyler thanked the colleagues and community who have supported his practice and noted his appreciation for the welcome the Huron and HRMC communities have provided to himself and his family over the past several years.
