Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its May Exceptional Employee of the Month, Shane Price, with a department reception earlier this month.
Price, who has worked in facility services at HRMC for nearly 29 years, was nominated by coworkers. “Shane consistently lives HRMC’s Core Values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. He goes above and beyond what is expected of him and is an asset to the facilities department,” according to the nomination.
“He has a vast knowledge of all of the grounds and facilities of HRMC and goes out of his way to assist patients and coworkers in need,” the nomination continued. “In addition, Shane finds ways and offers tangible suggestions and solutions
to better serve our patients and HRMC.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees by the HRMC board of directors.
As May exceptional employee, Price, received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month. Price also earned the exceptional employee honor in December 1994 and November 2009 and was honored as exceptional employee of the year for 2009.
A native of Miller, South Dakota, Price has lived in Huron since 1987. He and his wife, Ronda, who is an Engineering Technician with Western Area Power Administration, have been married for 33 years and have two grown sons. Nathan, age 24, graduated from Northern State University and works as a reporter for the New Rockford Transcript in Rockford, North Dakota. Dustin, age 23, graduated from Black Hills State University and recently completed a term appointment with U.S. Fish & Wildlife and is currently working for Allied Climate Professionals.
Prior to joining the HRMC team, he worked at Prostrollo Motor Sales. Price served as a volunteer firefighter for 33 years and was very active with Boy Scout Troop 151, helping Nathan and Dustin achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. In his spare time, Price enjoys attending Nascar races, ATV adventures, do-it-yourself projects and spending time with his family.
Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 605-353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org.
